Kick back and relax…

Dare I say it but Christmas is nearly upon us! The only time of year when every single person in the country is given the exact same deadline. Panic ensues and packed out high street stores, screaming children and stressed out sales staff can make the lead up to this festive day a real drag.

I was determined to avoid the pandemonium this year so started my Christmas shopping early. By early I mean, October! Two months on and I feel absolute satisfaction that everything has been bought, wrapped and is now ready for Christmas weeks in advance. Late night shopping on Christmas Eve is no longer an option in my mind.

By buying presents months ago it has helped me spread the spend and also means I now have the luxury to kick back, relax and enjoy everything that makes Christmas so special. I am free to do as I please now and am looking forward to all of the events I have planned from now until the new year.

I found an interesting article this morning entitled ‘Kick back and relax’ written by Romanus Wolter a few years ago. His notion is that:

“As entrepreneurs, we often let stress get in the way of our success. But while we are driven to succeed, we need to realize that taking time to relax isn’t a gift for ourselves, it’s necessary and an indispensable part of performing at our peak and staying sane.”

I see myself as an entrepreneur but this statement can apply to everyone no matter what their situation. It is incredibly easy to fall into the trap of putting up with the every day stresses in our lives, getting worked up or feeling anxious and tense. All of this pent up aggression and wasted adrenaline should be channelled into something more creative and with regular periods of relaxation however brief, it is possible to bring balance and control to every aspect of our lives.
